ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A toric contact lens from Bausch & Lomb has been granted regulatory approval for vision correction in people with astigmatism, according to a press release from the company.

B&L’s PureVision Toric lens is made with balafilcon A, a patented silicone hydrogel material. The lens is approved for the correction of refractive ametropia with astigmatism up to 5 D. It is designed for monthly replacement and approved for either daily wear or up to 30-day continuous wear, according to the company.

Already available in Europe, Canada and Australia, the PureVision Toric is expected to be launched in the United States during the summer.
