FDA approves another hyaluronic acid filler

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — U.S. regulators have approved a hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler that is indicated for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, the product’s marketer announced.

Hylaform Plus (hylan-B gel, Inamed) is a clear, colorless gel with a larger mean hyaluronic acid particle size than the previously approved product Hylaform, according to a press release from Inamed.

Inamed Corp. is the exclusive U.S. marketer of the two hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, which are manufactured by Genzyme. Other fillers in Inamed’s line include the collagen products Zyderm, Zyplast, CosmoDerm and CosmoPlast.
