ANAHEIM, Calif. — Alcon’s new Accurus high-speed vitrectomy cutter allows more precise cuts, according to one surgeon.

“You can make tiny bites in small places,” said Terek Hassen, MD, at a presentation at the Alcon exhibit here during the American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting.

Dr. Hassen explained that the device can take large pieces of vitreous through the probe. At 2,500 cuts per minute, “it is efficient and stable,” Dr. Hassen said. “It will make you do surgery more efficiently, more elegantly and with more control.”
