BALTIMORE — Eyemaginations has introduced an updated software package designed to enhance patient education and streamline office functions, according to a press release from the company.

LUMA offers the delivery of patient education materials to multiple areas of a practice, including the waiting room, exam lanes and optical area, the release said.

"We have spent the last 10 years refining the patient experience by listening to our customers," Jeff Peres, Eyemaginations president and CEO, said in the release. "The result is LUMA. It has been designed with both the eye care practice and the patient in mind. It is easier to use, more intuitive, more practice-friendly and graphically more powerful than any other tool on the market today."

LUMA offers improved animations and narratives designed to enhance patients' understanding of clinical issues and help them make more informed decisions on treatment. One interactive feature, the Exam Advisor, enables clinicians to illustrate disease progression and show patients how they are affected. A similar feature, the Optical Advisor, is designed to inform patients about premium IOL options, the release said.

A scheduling tool enables practice staff to target customized presentations to specific groups of patients, the release said.
