EyeIC receives 510(k) clearance for software to detect glaucoma progression

NARBERTH, Pa. — EyeIC has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its MatchedFlicker technology for monitoring glaucoma progression, the company announced in a press release.

MatchedFlicker software may be used for comparing separate images of the same retina over time. After evaluating these images, clinicians can mark changes on the flicker and the images themselves, and the markings can be aligned over the same location on other images in the same project, according to the release.

In addition, the software has the ability to electronically save and print all images and annotations.

"MatchedFlicker provides eye care professionals with a technology for faster detection, improved documentation and an easy-to-use electronic format that enables collaboration among multiple doctors across town or across the globe," Ira Wallace, chief executive officer of EyeIC, said in the release.

EyeIC expects to commercialize a program that may be fully integrated into the eye care professional's current workflow by July.
