Deutsche Bank dedicates $20 million to develop eye care hospitals

NEW YORK — Deutsche Bank will create a $20 million investment fund to expand eye care hospitals in developing countries, the company announced.

Called the Eye Fund I, the fund will provide loans and guarantees to support the development of affordable eye care for impoverished populations around the world while providing near-market returns for investors, company officials said in a press release.

A complimentary grant fund will also be established to provide technical assistance, business planning and training. The company hopes to assist 4,000 hospitals in the next 5 years, according to the release.
