Corneal to launch dispersive/cohesive viscoelastic

PARIS — The French company Corneal plans to introduce a viscoelastic product for intraocular surgery that has both dispersive and cohesive properties, the company announced in a press release.

Rhexeal (sodium hyaluronate, hypromellose, Corneal) has dispersive characteristics that allow surgeons to perform a properly controlled capsulorrhexis, the company noted, while its cohesive properties make it effective to create and maintain spaces, dampen ultrasound vibrations and facilitate removal at the end of surgery.

Corneal noted that Rhexeal “is easily and completely eliminated at the end of the operation, even with a narrow incision.”
