At the most basic level, vision and hearing enable individuals to maneuver and remain oriented within their environments (Hearing Industries Association, 2004). The importance of hearing and the need to promote hearing health are highlighted in Healthy People 2010 (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2005).
