CMS issues additional reimbursement rates for ASC procedures

WASHINGTON — Effective July 1, 2003, an additional 288 procedures performed in an ambulatory surgery center will be available for Medicare reimbursement, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

According to information published by Outpatient Ophthalmic Surgery Society (OOSS), CMS will be adding to its current reimbursement list procedural codes for revision of lower and upper eyelids, correction of astigmatism and repositioning IOLs.

An OOSS press release noted the coding changes were published in the March 28 issue of the Federal Register.
