CK-related patents licensed by intellectual property company
WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. An intellectual property company has licensed what it calls fundamental patents around conductive keratoplasty technology and says it plans to commercialize the patents. The company, BTG, which describes itself as an intellectual property and technology commercialization company, announced its plans in a press release.
BTG licensed the patents from RJF Holdings, a company currently in patent litigation with Refractec over alleged infringement of the patents, according to the press release. The press release claims that Richard J. Fugo, MD, developed CK.
Refractec currently markets the CK technology as the ViewPoint CK System in the United States.
The CK technique was approved for the treatment of hyperopia in 2002 and presbyopia in 2004, but the technology can be developed in the future for all types of refractive surgery, BTG said in its press release.
