CCT in AMD patients similar to control group, study finds
Central corneal thickness in patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration does not differ from that of healthy controls, according to a study by researchers in Greece.
George D. Kymionis, MD, PhD, of the University of Crete, and colleagues measured central cornea thickness (CCT) in 130 eyes of 130 AMD patients and 98 eyes of 98 age-, sex- and axial length-matched controls.
The researchers found mean CCT in the AMD group was 549.44 µm. It was not significantly different from a mean CCT of 544.35 µm in the control group (P = .11), according to the study.
The study is published in the February issue of Cornea.
