A natural antioxidant may dissolve cataracts over the course of several months, according to Russian researchers.

Mark Babizhayev, MD, and colleagues at Innovative Vision Products developed an eye drop delivery system called Can-C for the natural antioxidant N-acetylcarnosine, according to a company press release. In controlled studies, the antioxidant “has been proven to work on human lenses,” according to company data.

Company researchers hope Can-C may benefit other eye disorders such as computer vision syndrome, eye strain and blurred vision.
