Carl Zeiss Meditec reports increased consolidated revenue for fiscal year
JENA, Germany - Carl Zeiss Meditec reported consolidated revenue of 640.1 million for its financial year that ended Sept. 30, a 6.6% increase from 600.1 million the previous year, according to a press release from the company.
The company's earnings before interest and tax were 76.1 million, an increase of 11.5% from 68.2 million a year ago.
The highest growth rate, 21.1%, was in the Asia-Pacific region. The Americas region generated the largest share of revenue, 35.6%. Revenue increased 2.9% in Germany and 7% in the Americas, but decreased 3% in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
Strategic business units revenue increased 9% in ophthalmic systems, 6.8% in surgical ophthalmology and 3.8% in microsurgery. The gains were attributed to the strength of the U.S. dollar and Japanese yen against the euro, particularly in the first half of the year, the release said.
"We expect revenue growth in financial year 2009-2010 to again be at least on a par with market growth," Michael Kaschke, PhD, Carl Zeiss Meditec president and CEO, said in the release.
