VIENNA, Austria — Carl Zeiss Meditec launched an injector and announced new features on a data management tool and surgical microscope, as well as a new version of a modular platform.

"If I'm asked to describe our strategy in very short terms, I usually do that with three terms - that's precision, simplicity and outcomes," Ludwin Monz, MD, president and CEO of Carl Zeiss Meditec, said at a press conference held during European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons meeting here. "What that means is, Carl Zeiss strives for ever-increasing precision of its products. We're trying to further enhance, for example, resolution with our imaging devices or the precision with lasers or other tools or phaco or IOLs."

As part of that strategy, the company announced the launch of a product and additions to its existing lines at the ESCRS meeting.

There are several highlights, including the launch of the Bluemixs 180 Injector, which adds a new injector to the Zeiss MICS platform.

The Forum Link Tools now allows "smooth integration of systems from other manufacturers that do not support the DICOM standard or do not feature a network interface," a release from the company said.

The Opmi Lumera 700 surgical microscope now has integrated data injection for the first time and a space-saving ceiling mount.

In addition, the modular platform of Callisto eye now has a new version with multiple assistance functions for cataract surgery.
