NEW YORK — Lighthouse International and the Canadian nonprofit organization CNIB have signed a licensing agreement to implement the Electronic Vision Rehabilitation Record system in more than 50 CNIB locations in Canada, the organization announced in a press release.

The Electronic Vision Rehabilitation Record (EVRR) is a Web-enabled electronic record system that incorporates both patient and professional assessments of vision rehabilitation progress. Lighthouse International developed the system as part of a project funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). The project, called Creating an Evidence Base for Vision Rehabilitation, seeks to create a large outcome-measures database for evaluating the efficacy of current best-practices and to help refine such practices as the evidence indicates, according to a description of the project on the AHRQ Web site.

EVRR is currently in use by three organizations in the United States; CNIB is the first organization to implement EVRR outside the United States, the release said.
