The AcrySof® IQ IOL platform is a thin, full 6-mm aspheric optic that we are all able to place through a 2.2-mm incision. It has an excellent low posterior capsule opacification rate. The lens has an excellent one-piece design for easy implantation. The one-piece design is in a natural lens, with a chromophore. The natural has extended into the elective IOLs, whether it is toric or the multifocal IOL for blocking harmful wavelengths of blue light. With multifocal IOLs, I’m a big fan of centration; that’s where you want the IOL to stay. To have excellent outcomes with the AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® IOL, you start off with excellent centration at the time of implantation, thus you can expect the IOL to stay centered postoperatively. With other multifocal IOLs, I can just say that it has been challenging for me to get the level of centration that I am getting with the IQ ReSTOR® IOL. The aspheric optic, IQ IOL, provides improved functional vision. It increases contrast sensitivity and reduces both spherical and higher order aberrations. The theoretical advantages of the blue-light filtering IOLs leads me to believe that you can expect reduced glare, reduced cyanopsia, and increased contrast sensitivity.
