Becton Dickinson third-quarter U.S. ophthalmic systems revenues up 8.8%

FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. — Revenues for Becton Dickinson totaled $1.631 billion for its third quarter, a 12% increase over the same period in 2006, the company announced in a press release.

Revenues for the quarter from U.S. sales of ophthalmic systems totaled $6.378 million, an 8.8% increase over the third quarter 2006. Internationally, revenues from ophthalmic system sales increased 14.3% over the third quarter 2006, totaling $11.794 million. Combined revenues from U.S. and international ophthalmic system sales totaled $18.172 million, up 12.3% compared with the same period 2006, according to the release.

For the year-to-date, U.S. ophthalmic systems revenues totaled $18.382 million, also an 8.8% increase of the same period 2006. International ophthalmic system revenues totaled $33.461 million, a 12.6% increase over the same 9-month period in 2006, the release said.

Combined 9-month revenues from U.S. and international ophthalmic system sales totaled $51.843 million, or an increase of 11.2% over the same period 2006.

Becton Dickinson's ophthalmic unit is part of its medical segment, which collected third-quarter revenues totaling $882 million worldwide, according to the release.
