ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Bausch + Lomb has introduced a monthly contact lens for reducing spherical aberration across the entirety of the power spectrum, according to a company press release.

PureVision 2 with High Definition Optics contact lens is packaged in a solution containing the moisturizing surfactant poloxamine for added comfort during insertion. The lens also provides high levels of oxygen transmissibility and easy handling, according to the release.

"When designing PureVision 2 with High Definition Optics, we looked to the lifestyles that millions of patients are living today. These lifestyles include activities in which vision is critical, including nighttime driving, classroom learning and athletics," Lisa VanDeMark, vice president of brand marketing for Bausch + Lomb's North American vision care division, said in the release.

A Bausch + Lomb-commissioned study revealed 90% of contact lens wearers experiencing glare and 89% of wearers experiencing halos were interested in reducing their symptoms. The NSIGHT (Needs, symptoms, incidence, global eye health trends) study included 3,800 vision-corrected patients across seven countries.
