MADISON, N.J. — Bausch + Lomb has voluntarily recalled all lots of Soothe Xtra Protection eye drops, available only in the United States, according to a press release from the company.

The recall follows testing that showed the product was out of specification for preservative efficacy before the end of its shelf-life expiration.

Eighty lots of the eye drops were recalled, with expiration dates between February 2011 and August 2012. A full list of the affected lots can be found on the Bausch + Lomb website.

No adverse events such as burning, stinging, redness or discomfort have been reported, the release said. However, the company will continue to investigate why these specific drops were out of shelf-life specification.

Bausch + Lomb is urging consumers to return Soothe Xtra Protection eye drops to the company by calling the Soothe Xtra Protection recall hotline at 1-866-761-9526 or the Bausch + Lomb customer service center at 1-800-553-5340.
