LONDON — Bausch & Lomb has launched two products for use in microincision cataract surgery in Europe - an IOL and a phacoemulsification system.

The Akreos MI-60 IOL is specifically designed for 1.8 mm microincision cataract surgery (MICS), featuring a 30% thinner design than its parent lens, according to a press release from Bausch & Lomb.

The company also introduced the modular Stellaris phaco system for performing MICS techniques through a 1.8 mm incision. The system is expected to receive the European CE Mark in the second quarter of 2007, according to the release.
