ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Five eye care professionals have been named recipients of the Bausch & Lomb Visionaries Recognition Award, the company announced last week.

According to a press release from Bausch & Lomb announcing the awards, the program is designed to commemorate the company’s 150th anniversary by honoring eye care professionals who “embody the highest ideals in vision care.” Nominees were suggested by peers and selected by an independent committee, according to the press release.

This year’s recipients are Eleanor E. Faye, MD, of Lighthouse International in New York; Bradley R. Staatsma, MD, of the Jules Stein Eye Institute in Los Angeles; Michael T. Trese, MD, of Associated Retinal Consultants in Royal Oak, Mich.; George O. Waring, MD, of InView Vision in Atlanta; and Karla Zadnik, OD, PhD, of Ohio State University in Columbus.

Bausch & Lomb will equally distribute $150,000 to the vision-related nonprofit organizations chosen by the recipients.
