Bausch & Lomb completes regional leadership structure

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Bausch & Lomb Inc. (NYSE: BOL) announced it has completed the leadership structure for its regional organization with the appointments of Mark M. Sieczkarek to lead the Americas Region and Alan H. Farnsworth to head the Europe, Middle East and Africa Region, succeeding Mr. Sieczkarek. Both appointments are effective July 1, 2001.

Bausch & Lomb chairman and CEO William M. Carpenter said, "These two executives have demonstrated through past performance the ability to lead the development of effective organizations and deliver improved operating results. They will be able to make immediate, positive contributions to our regional business performance. Mark Sieczkarek, most recently as president of the Europe, Middle East and Africa Region, has performed extremely well in leading our rapidly growing European business. Alan Farnsworth, most recently as president of our pharmaceuticals business in Europe, has ably led the integration of our acquisition of the France-based Groupe Chauvin with our emerging European pharmaceuticals business."

Mr. Sieczkarek and Mr. Farnsworth will join John M. Loughlin, Bausch & Lomb corporate senior vice president and president for the Asia-Pacific Region, as regional leaders of the company's commercial businesses. Mr. Loughlin was named to his post in 1999.

Mr. Sieczkarek joined Bausch & Lomb in 1995 as vice president and controller in the former Personal Products division. Mr. Farnsworth joined Bausch & Lomb in 1988 as vice president of business development, progressing through a series of expanded roles including vice president of marketing and president of lens care in the North American Vision Care business.
