MUNICH, Germany — Bausch & Lomb and 20/10 Perfect Vision have completed their transaction to form Technolas Perfect Vision, a joint venture focused on the laser vision correction industry.

The new company will merge the refractive eye surgery assets of Bausch & Lomb and 20/10 Perfect Vision and employ its global service and support infrastructure to launch laser-based vision correction procedures, with an immediate focus on treatments for presbyopia, according to a press release from Technolas Perfect Vision.

"These are breakthrough technologies, transforming the lifestyle of presbyopia sufferers and providing clinicians with a wonderful opportunity to attract new patients to their refractive practices," Kristian Hohla, PhD, who will serve as Technolas Perfect Vision's chief executive officer, said in the release.

One of the technologies Technolas Perfect Vision is currently developing is intraCOR - intrastromal correction of presbyopia with the Femtec system. intraCOR has already undergone the EC Conformity Assessment and carries the CE Mark for treating presbyopic hyperopes.

Studies evaluating an even broader range of indications for this technology are ongoing, the release said.
