ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Citing overwhelming demand for its PureVision SVS contact lens in the United States, Bausch & Lomb is re-evaluating the timing of the U.S. launch of its PureVision Toric contact lens, the company announced in a press release. The toric lens had been scheduled for U.S. launch this summer, the company said.

The release said B&L noted the “market shift to silicone hydrogel lenses … is occurring faster than expected,” and as such the company believes it should “capitalize on this shift now.”

B&L’s SofLens 66 Toric lens sales have grown at double-digit rates, and they reached an all-time high market share last quarter, allowing the company more flexibility in its PureVision Toric lens launch, the press release said.
