B&L to develop accommodative IOL

Bausch & Lomb has secured the development rights to an accommodative IOL, a single-piece molded silicone lens with a dual-optic design, the company announced yesterday.

Faezeh Mona Sarfarazi, MD, is the inventor of the IOL for the treatment of presbyopia. Bausch & Lomb will fund research and development costs, make a series of license fee payments to Dr. Sarfarazi and pay royalties on product sales once the lens has been commercialized, according to a company news release. No other details of the agreement were released.
