ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Bausch & Lomb has filed a patent infringement suit against Inverness Medical Innovations, claiming the company and its subsidiary manufacture and distribute eye vitamins that infringe B&L patents, the company announced in a press release.

B&L claims in the suit that its rights to the high-potency antioxidant and mineral formula in its Ocuvite PreserVision nutritional supplement are infringed by Inverness’ competing product.

B&L noted in the press release that it created the PreserVision formula with the National Eye Institute, and it holds worldwide patent rights under a license agreement with the National Institutes of Health.
