B&L shows double-digit growth in 2003

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Bausch & Lomb reported year-end sales of $2.02 billion, up 11% from the previous year, the company announced in an earnings press release. Growth in the contact lens and ocular vitamins products helped bolster the company’s revenues, the release indicated.

For the fourth quarter, net sales in the contact lens division reached $154.9 million, up from $134.1 in the year-ago period. Sales in the company’s other divisions also increased from the previous year’s quarter.

For the fiscal year, B&L posted net sales of $2.02 billion, up from $1.82 billion in fiscal 2002. Contact lenses posted sales of $591.8 million, lens care posted sales of $498.9 million, pharmaceuticals posted sales of $467.9 million, cataract and vitreoretinal products posted sales of $327.9 million and refractive products posted sales of $133 million.
