B&L reaffirms support of CEO

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Bausch & Lomb board of directors has publicly reaffirmed its commitment to retaining Ronald L. Zarrella as its chairman and chief executive officer. The board cited Mr. Zarrella’s extensive management experience and knowledge in the market as reasons to keep him in the top post at B&L. Mr. Zarrella recently admitted he misrepresented himself on his official biography and offered the board his resignation.

Citing its responsibilities to the shareholders and employees, the board directed that Mr. Zarrella forfeit any annual incentive bonus for 2002, of which $1.2 million had been guaranteed under his contract.
