LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. — Aton Pharma has launched an authorized generic version of its non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor blocking agent Timoptic-XE, the company announced in a press release.

Timolol maleate ophthalmic gel forming solution is indicated for treating elevated IOP in ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma patients, the release said.

"We are extremely pleased with the successful launch of the authorized generic for Timoptic-XE, and we are now highly confident in our ability to execute this type of program for other Aton products when the opportunity arises," Michael G. Wells, CEO of Aton Pharma, said in the release.

Aton will continue to distribute branded Timoptic-XE in addition to the generic, the release said.
