AMO releases first quarter results
SANTA ANA, Calif. Advanced Medical Optics reported net revenue growth of 14.6% to $150.3 million during the first quarter of 2004 compared with the same quarter a year ago, according to a news release.
International sales growth during the quarter was solid, according to Jim Mazzo, president and chief executive officer. Sales performance in the Americas region increased 12% over the year-ago period, he said.
AMOs ophthalmic surgical revenue grew 15.9% to $78.3 million during the quarter, compared to the year-ago period. Total IOL revenue was $51.6 million, a 12.5% increase from the year-ago period. The company press release attributed the growth to continued demand for its OptiEdge series of IOLs. Increased equipment and surgical pack sales related to the Sovereign franchise helped grow that division as well.
AMOs eye care business increased revenue to $72 million during the quarter, an increase of 13.2% from the year-ago period, according to the press release.
