AMO introduces Tecnis 1-Piece in United States, receives NTIOL status from CMS

SANTA ANA, Calif. — Advanced Medical Optics has introduced its Tecnis 1-Piece IOL in the United States, the company announced in a press release. Additionally, the Tecnis 1-Piece IOL model ZCB00 received new technology IOL designation by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the release said.

Under the NTIOL status, Medicare will now reimburse an additional $50 for each lens implanted in a Medicare patient in an ambulatory surgery center.

AMO received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the Tecnis 1-Piece IOL on Oct. 30. The lens received the same claims of reduced spherical aberrations and improved night driving simulator performance as the other IOLs in the Tecnis portfolio, according to the release.
