AMO beats Wall Street estimates for first quarter

SANTA ANA, Calif. — First quarter earnings for Advanced Medical Optics increased 15.1% from the same quarter in 2002, the company announced earlier today. For the quarter, AMO’s net revenue was $131.2 million and broke even on earnings on net income.

As a result of its quarterly earnings, the company is revising its full-year estimates and is now anticipating revenues in the $560 to $570 million range.

Gross profit increases for the quarter were partially attributable to growth in the company’s Sovereign phacoemulsifier with WhiteStar technology; Sensar and ClariFlex intraocular lenses; and the company’s branded eye care solutions line.
