Ametek purchases Reichert Technologies for $150 million
BERWYN, Pa. Ametek has acquired Reichert Technologies from Beecken Petty O'Keefe & Company for $150 million, the company announced in a news release.
Reichert will be assimilated into Ametek's Electronic Instruments Group (EIG), a manufacturer of monitoring, testing, calibrating and display instrumentation. Ametek EIG's sales totaled $1.3 billion in worldwide processing, analytical, aerospace, power and industrial markets in 2010.
Reichert's estimated annual sales total $55 million, according to the release.
"Reichert Technologies is an excellent acquisition, which expands Ametek's business in the medical market," Frank S. Hermance, Ametek chairman and CEO, said in the release. "It allows us to enter the highly attractive ophthalmic device market with an industry leader and innovator."
Reichert invented the Phoroptor refraction device and is regarded as a global leader in tonometry instruments, the release said.
