CHICAGO — A presbyopia-correcting IOL from Alcon is now available with a chromophore that filters both ultraviolet and blue light “without altering color perception” for the patient, according to the company.

Alcon’s AcrySof ReStor IOL with the added light filtration technology was launched last week during the American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting, according to a press release from Alcon.

The new IOL is composed of the same biocompatible materials as the original AcrySof lens, the company noted. The material adheres well to the anterior and posterior capsules, reducing lens epithelial cell proliferation in comparison with PMMA and silicone lenses, the press release said.
