HUENENBERG, Switzerland — Alcon has launched its Opti-Free GP multipurpose cleaning and disinfecting solution for patients who wear gas permeable contact lenses, the company announced in a press release.

Indicated for cleaning, rinsing, disinfecting and conditioning fluorosilicone acrylate and silicone acrylate rigid gas permeable contact lenses, Opti-Free GP employs Alcon's proprietary Tetronic 1304 molecule to enhance lens surface wettability for full-day comfort and contains Polyquad, a polyhexamethylene biguanide-free disinfection agent.

The most common side effects associated with the solution are eye irritation, tearing, unusual eye secretions, redness, reduced visual acuity, blurred vision, rainbows or halos around objects, sensitivity to light and dry eye, according to the release.

Opti-Free GP is now available exclusively at Wal-Mart.
