SAN FRANCISCO — Alcon introduced new OZil Intelligent Phaco software for its Infiniti phacoemulsification platform, according to company officials.

The OZil IP software addition, unveiled at a live surgery event here at the joint meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology, improves efficiency and followability and maintains a more natural state of the eye, according to company literature.

"OZil IP keeps nuclear material at the shearing plane and prevents tip occlusion," Kevin Creed, director of cataract global marketing for Alcon, said in an interview with Ocular Surgery News. "Those two things combine to make it a more efficient power management system."
