FORT WORTH, Texas — Alcon and Advanced Medical Optics have reached a global settlement resolving all current patent disputes between the companies, according to an Alcon press release.

As a result of the settlement agreement, AMO will request that the judgment and injunction previously entered against Alcon by the U.S. District Court in Delaware be vacated and the corresponding appeals will be dismissed.

The agreement allows both parties to continue marketing their current phaco product lines on a royalty-free basis. Alcon will pay AMO a lump sum of $121 million this month.
