FREMONT, Calif. — Addition Technology is seeking authorization to market additional sizes of its Intacs intrastromal corneal segments in Europe. The six new sizes will double the company’s product offerings in that region. A company news release said European surgeons have requested the inserts in smaller increments for the treatment of myopia.

Two new smaller sizes (0.21 mm and 0.23 mm) will treat myopia from -0.5 D to -1 D, and four others will provide intermediate treatment options, once marketing authorization is granted, according to the company.

Intacs are approved in Europe for use in patients with -1 D to -5 D of myopia and 1 D of astigmatism or less.
