Accommodating IOL shows better visual results over previous version in FDA trial

SAN FRANCISCO — The Crystalens HD showed improved visual results over the Crystalens AT-45 in FDA clinical trial results, according to a speaker here.

"The Crystalens HD showed increased depth of field over the Crystalens AT-45, and a greater percentage of HD eyes achieved J1 and J2 uncorrected and with distance vision," John Hovanesian, MD, said here at Refractive Surgery Subspecialty Day preceding the American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting.

Dr. Hovanesian also said the HD IOL showed no loss of contrast sensitivity compared with the AT-45. The Crystalens HD IOL and Crystalens AT-45 are both manufactured by Bausch & Lomb.
