SAN FRANCISCO — The American Academy of Ophthalmology is now accepting nominations for this year’s Outstanding Humanitarian Service Award and Special Recognition Award. All nominations must be received by the AAO by March 13, 2003.

The Outstanding Humanitarian Service Award recognizes AAO fellows and members for outstanding contributions to humanitarian efforts, such as participation in charitable activities, care of the indigent and community service. The Special Recognition Award (open to both ophthalmologists and non-ophthalmologists) honors individuals for their lifetime commitment to ophthalmology. It may also honor organizations for outstanding service in a specific effort or cause that has improved the quality of eye care.
