AAO revises preferred practice patterns
WASHINGTON The American Academy of Ophthalmology has revised several of its preferred practice patterns, all of which are available online.
The preferred practice patterns (PPPs) are AAO publications designed to identify characteristics and components of quality eye care. Developed by a panel of experts (the Quality of Care Secretariat and the PPP Committee) and based on the best available scientific data, PPPs provide guidance for the pattern of practice, not for the care of a particular individual, according to the AAO Web site.
Among the revised practice patterns recently posted online are primary open-angle glaucoma suspect, pediatric eye evaluations, esotropia and exotropia and refractive errors.
