Sharad Lakhotia

Sharad Lakhotia, MBBS, MS, CAMS, was recently named president of the Delhi Ophthalmological Society.

Dr. Lakhotia established the LakhotiaEye Centre & Laser Institute in 1986 after returning from specialized training abroad. He is also president of Eye Care Awareness Foundation and the Ophthalmologists Club. He was formerly vice president of the Delhi MedicalAssociation.

Dr. Lakhotia specializes in phacoemulsification and foldable square-edge lens implantation through a minimal incision without stitches. He also specializes in customized LASIK for correction of spectacle power, contact lenses and medical retina. Dr. Lakhotia has been a pioneer of intraocular implant surgery in India since 1985 and is currently authoring an ophthalmology textbook.

He was awarded the Human Care Award by the Chief Minister and has been nominated for the selection committee of Gyan Vigyan Puraskar initiated by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Dr. Lakhotia is a self-made man whose motto is, “Nobody should lose sight because of ignorance. Every person has a right to sight with the best eye care facility within their means.”
