I wanted to take a moment to discuss this year’s upcoming Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology meeting being held in conjunction with the American Academy of Ophthalmology in Beijing from September 16 to 20. This is looking to be the largest meeting in the Asia-Pacific region in terms of attendees as well as scientific content. As the scientific program committee chairman of the APAO-AAO, we have worked very hard to put on a balanced scientific program to help ophthalmologists in the region gain the skills and knowledge needed to become better doctors.

The joint APAO-AAO meeting, co-hosted by the Chinese Ophthalmology Society, offers a chance for ophthalmologists to exchange knowledge and keep up with increasingly fast-paced intellectual and technological developments in ophthalmology. We must keep abreast of these latest developments in order to serve our patients at the highest level.

With more than 500 invited speakers and more than 100 members on the Scientific Program Committee, we promise you world-class scientific and clinical content. We feel that this year’s program will have the most accurate, up-to-date information with the highest level of experts in eye care from around the world.

The meeting will also offer ophthalmologists and eye care specialists a unique opportunity to network with colleagues from throughout the region and the world.

As this is the 50th anniversary, the Golden Jubilee of the APAO, we are very happy to host the meeting in such a splendid location as Beijing with such a rich history and culture. From the Great Wall to the Forbidden City and Bird’s Nest Olympic stadium, there are plenty of destinations and attractions for delegates and their families to visit. I hope to see you in Beijing.
