Full slate of meetings around the world to be covered by OSN
Look to Ocular Surgery News in 2006 to stay informed of the latest breaking news from major ophthamology congresses.
The highlights from the Hawaiian Eye 2006 meeting in this issue mark OSN’s first meeting coverage of the year. The editorial staff of Ocular Surgery News will attend more than 40 meetings globally in 2006 and will report to you the breaking news you and others in your region want.
OSN mission
We have listened to our readers and found that you want to hear not only what is happening in your country, but also what is new and innovative in the entire global ophthalmic community.
So the OSN mission is two-fold: to report on ophthalmic news from your country and to report on global ophthalmic news.

The OSN editorial staff travels the world in search of new techniques, new technologies and therapies. Led by Michael C. Knorz, MD, Chairman of the Editorial Board, and Associate Editors Drs. Alio, Lam, Lawless and Piovella, we choose meetings to cover that provide the most valuable educational experience for their attendees. We dedicate time and resources to covering these meetings because it is there that the most innovative procedures, techniques and therapies are introduced to the world.
No ophthalmologist can attend every congress, so the 18 members of the OSN editorial staff make it their job to ensure that the most valuable breaking news from these congresses is spread to ophthalmologists throughout the world.
In addition to the print edition of OSN, each business day you can find breaking news first from these meetings and other ophthalmic news on this Web site.
Following the meeting, news is summarized in our print publication, and finally the most important items are given in-depth coverage as standalone news articles.
Meeting coverage 2006
For a preview of what’s to come, our April issue will contain coverage from the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons Winter Refractive Meeting, which was held February 10 to 12 in Monte Carlo, as well as news from the World Ophthalmology Congress held in São Paulo the following week.
Meeting coverage is not limited to any subspecialty. This year, OSN will attend international meetings on cataract and refractive surgery, retina, ocular trauma and glaucoma.
Reader response
We ask that you take part; look in our issues for announcements of the meetings we plan to cover, so you can alert our editors to any breaking news or sessions you feel are newsworthy. Also, alert us if you think we may miss an important meeting. E-mail your ideas or comments to osnea@slackinc.com. We look forward to hearing from you and meeting you at a future congress.
