Thermedx granted 510(k) clearance for arthroscopic fluid warming system

Thermedx has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance for the FluidSmart System, which provides optional fluid warming in arthroscopic and hysteroscopic procedures.

As the only company with FDA clearance to provide optional fluid warming, Thermedx’s new system will offer hospitals and surgery centers a solution for both surgical irrigation and optional warming that can span multiple disciplines, according to a company press release.

“Our customers requested the expanded fluid warming capabilities added to our FluidSmart System for patient warming and other potential benefits,” Doug Carr, president and CEO of Thermedx, said in the release. “Due to the clear visualization, pressure control, deficit monitoring and optional fluid warming features, the FluidSmart System is becoming the preferred choice for an increasing number of hospitals and surgery centers.”
