Acumed recently announced the release of its Total Wrist Fusion Plating System, a solution to treat post-traumatic arthritis of the wrist.

The system is designed to reduce the risk of soft-tissue irritation associated with traditional wrist fusion plates by fusing the carpal bones together, offering plates specifically designed for placement on both the second and third metacarpals. Both left-right specific and neutral styles will be available in two sizes to accommodate differing patient anatomies, according to a company press release.

“We pride ourselves on being a comprehensive solution provider for the hand and wrist,” Rich Rice, vice president of extremities, trauma and biologics for Acumed, said in the press release. “Surgeons have come to trust Acumed to deliver products that are designed to better fit the patient’s anatomy and offer a more straightforward surgical technique.”
