Bausch + Lomb enters license agreement for Cirle Surgical Navigation System

Bausch + Lomb entered an exclusive license agreement with Cirle Inc. for the three-dimensional Cirle Surgical Navigation System, the company announced in a news release.

Bausch + Lomb is licensing the Cirle system for use in cataract surgery; the system is not commercially available in the U.S.

The navigation system is the product of a joint effort between Bausch + Lomb and Cirle to develop technologies that fulfill unmet eye care needs, the release said. The companies joined forces in 2012.

“Bausch + Lomb is immensely proud to have an opportunity to partner with Cirle on the commercialization of this exciting technology,” Calvin Roberts, MD, Bausch + Lomb chief medical officer, said in the release.

Richard Awdeh, MD, Cirle founder and CEO, praised the collaboration.

It’s very exciting to see how rapidly this technology has reached this stage of development, a testament to the productivity of industry-incubator collaborations like the unique partnership we have with Bausch + Lomb today,” Awdeh said in the release.
