Journal of Continuing Education in Nursing Announces Strategic Partnership with ANCC

Thorofare, NJ: - February 2020 – For more than 50 years, The Journal of Continuing Education in Nursing (JCEN), a peer-reviewed journal published by SLACK Incorporated, has been committed to the goal of educating nurses about continuing competency and developing nurses, with articles delving into topics such as evidence-based best practices, leadership, professional development, and retention. In testament to this mission, JCEN was recently designated by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as the official journal of the ANCC Nursing Continuing Professional Development (NCPD) program. This accreditation is focused on the ongoing education and professional development of nurses around the world.

Of the journal’s new partnership, Editor-in-Chief and current President of the National League for Nursing Patricia S. Yoder-Wise said, “This partnership is a testament to the commitment of JCEN and ANCC to enhance nurses’ professional growth at every step of their careers. We are thrilled to be in partnership with ANCC and look forward to continuing to provide nurses with valuable educational resources through this designation.”

Nursing students spend years of dedicated study to become registered nurses, and in order to stay competent and current in the new developments of nursing and leadership techniques, they must pursue learning opportunities for their entire careers. Programs such as NCPD have the potential to change and augment one’s practice for patients.

Along with the partnership being announced, JCEN recently:

• Changed its tagline from competence to competency to emphasize that education is an ongoing journey and not a destination and that the focus is on performance, not merely the needed knowledge to perform.
• Celebrated its 50^th consecutive year in print at its Editorial Board Meeting, held in August 2019.
