DENVER - Cenobamate was effective in treating focal seizures administered as a whole tablet, crushed tablet or by nasogastric tube, Vijay Vashi, PhD, in this Healio video from the American Academy of Neurology annual meeting.

Vashi and colleagues conducted a randomized, open-label, single-dose, three-way crossover study in 31 healthy adult volunteers, who received one dose each of 200 mg cenobamate (intact tablet with 240 mL of water, crushed tablet suspended in water taken orally crushed tablet suspended in water and administered via nasogastric tube) while fasting.

Data showed bioequivalence among the administration routes, supporting use of all three for dosing flexibility.

“The treatments are interchangeable,” said Vashi, executive director and headclinical pharmacology at SK Life Science. “It also means that these treatments provide alternate mechanisms of administration in addition to intact tablets.”
