Biogen and Happify Health have announced a partnership to provide an artificial intelligence-powered digital solution for people with MS called Kopa, which will offer support for patients through education and engagement.
“Kopa for the MS community gives people living with MS a place to discuss the physical and mental challenges they are facing with medical experts,” Biogen’s head of strategic partnerships and collaborations, Jason Hawbecker, told Healio. “They will have access to curated content — videos, articles, games and activities — and [it will] help people develop meaningful connections with others dealing with similar health issues.”
According to the National MS Society, more than 2.3 million people worldwide live with MS, including more than a million in the United States, and women are two to three times more likely to develop MS than men, Biogen said in a press release.
The Kopa platform will offer holistic health and wellness support and access to neurology providers, mental health specialists, dietitians and rehabilitation specialists, as well as educational content and resources, provided with support from Biogen. The tool is powered by Happify Health’s proprietary AI technology, which will personalize content to a patients’ life stages, symptoms and interests.
“Kopa for MS also offers articles and information from medical experts and helpful tools for managing mental and physical health,” Hawbecker said. “The MS community in Kopa is also free to use and accessible online and via the Kopa app.”
The Kopa app is available for download on Google Play and via the App Store.
